Religion has a substantial basis in science. There are many examples of mathematical equations in all of the great religious works, and many more expressions of the divine language of numbers. Most of the deepest held beliefs have profound numerical significance. Many may have read the eastern texts such as the Vedas and Vedanta’s, The Bhagavad Gita, The Dhammapada, Tao Te Ching, and the like. These texts contain much numerical symbolism. The Bible is another example of a work that contains far more numerical symbolism than most people realize. All of these examples point to scientific thought on the part of the writers. It is part of the Gnostic tradition behind all the great theological works of old.
Science has many things which it should owe credit to religion for. They have proven that there once was a great flood that overcame the entire planet. They run right into a wall when they try to talk of evolution. No one can really say how the world was created. They have figured for themselves the astronomical chances of it all occurring the way they would like to think it did. They can reduce a human being into a collection of chemicals, but cannot explain what life is. They can fiddle around with eggs and sperm and genetic codes, but they cannot create life itself. Just like those in the religious community; the intellectual path runs into a dead end, and they must resort to foolish assumptions.
If humanity is a freak happenstance of nature that created itself, then why don’t we know more about reality? If humanity was created by God to exist in this world without questioning any of the mystery here, then why are we so curious? This is a polar pair that takes nothing from the other. It is an out of balance relationship that has nothing but a negative impact upon us. Let us try to find out what happens when these two are joined in proper unity, if we can.
As there is Religion and Science, and neither could have created and maintained this reality without the other, they are very much both our parents in the matter. As God has always been equated to Religion, no matter what name or in what way he is worshipped, the Divine Essence of Spirit has always been seen as Masculine. Perhaps it is because the dominant force in the human species has been male, perhaps not. Has this force been responsible for taking us where we want to go? Are we where we need to be as a species? Religion does not act in subtle ways. Religion is very dominant and masculine in its ways. It instructs, defines, demands, and commands. Science is very different from this. Science offers a hard truth that cannot be denied, but is not at all easy to understand most of the time. It must be worked with, devoted to, romanced as a woman would be to gain her favor. Science is Feminine. What we call today science was once called Magic. The Hidden, the Secret, the Occult, enticing yet mysterious, desirable yet complicated. How very much like a female. Fascinating and attractive in appearance, and holding within such fantastic possibilities as defy description.
The realm of God
is that of the Spirit. This is of thought, idea, design, pattern, and imagination.
This is the Invisible realm beyond what the senses know as real. The realm
of the Spirit is intangible and unreal, unprovable and seemingly unknowable.
The realm of the Lost Goddess is thus one of Form. This is of realization,
actuality, structure, and reality. It does not look like a female, so we
have forgotten about her. Many do know of Mother Earth, Sister Moon, Gaia,
etc., but do not see how much she is truly present everywhere around us.
